Guerrino Boni, MSPT, CSCS

Clinic Director, OPT Wakefield

Guerrino received his masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island in 2003. In 2001 he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He graduated from Fairfield University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a medical concentration. Guerrino has studied under the Gary Gray Functional Rehabilitative Method and completed a 9 month Fellowship with the Gray Institute for Functional Training in Applied Functional Science in November of 2007. Guerrino has played competitive soccer throughout his life including tournament play in Europe and Scandinavia. He has worked as a personal trainer for six years and currently serves as the strength coach for the University of Rhode Island Women’s Lacrosse team.  He is also involved with many local High School sports and currently assists in Strength Training for the Narragansett Boy’s Soccer Team.

Bert Reid, PT, DPT

Co-Owner Olympic Physical Therapy / Olympic Core Orthotics

Bert Reid received his Master’s Degree from URI in 1993. He graduated cum laude from Tulane U. in New Orleans, LA in 1987, where he was the captain of the varsity golf team and Academic All-American. He recently finished his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Mass. General Hospital.  the MGH Doctoral program was focused on Research-Based clinical measurement tools with an emphasis on Biomechanical Functional and Sports Rehab.

Bert has taken over twenty-five advanced training seminars in specialized topics ranging from foot and ankle biomechanics, functional rehabilitation, performance training, rotator cuff/shoulder and throwing mechanics, mechanical low back and neck pain, Team Physician Sports Medicine, jaw pain, advanced orthotic fabrication through traditional methods as well as the AmFit Precise model, and many more.

In 2008 Bert completed a 10 month Fellowship in Functional PT Rehab and Sports Biomechanics through the G.I.F.T. Program of the Gray Institute. He has a NikeGolf  Fitness Certification.  He also passed the exam of the Titleist Performance Institute Certified Fitness Professional. He conducts Golf Fitness Training seminars and classes.  He has worked directly with elite runners including Olympic Medalists, Div. 1 collegians, pro golfers and tennis players as well as Navy SEALS, Team Puma pro sailors and others.  Bert has also worked as the sideline medical care specialist for the Narragansett High School Football Team for over 17 years based on his training with the ACSM Team Physician courses.  In 2010 OPT and Bert were inducted into the R.I. High School Football Coach’s Hall of Fame based on the history of Olympic’s involvement and donations with all of high school sports.

Josh Clare, DPT

Josh Clare graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2006 with a B.S. in Kinesiology, and in 2009 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. During his Graduate studies he was able to travel to Hawaii for a sports medicine and physical therapy internship where he was able to work with some of the world’s best collegiate, Olympic, and professional athletes. In 2007 he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Josh’s free time is spent coaching high school wrestling. On three occasions he had been nominated Assistant Coach of the Year.

Jennifer Kaye, DPT

Jen graduated from The University of Rhode Island in 2012 with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. In 2009, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from URI with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. In November 2010, Jen traveled to India to broaden her education in Physical Therapy by providing therapy in a local hospital.  During her graduate years, Jen received several esteemed awards recognizing her strength and understanding of diversity. In her free time, Jen competes in local road races and triathlons.

 

Jen has clinical education experience in Pediatrics and is currently working on her training in Functional Rehabilitation. She has been studying the Functional Video Digest Series provided by the Gray Institute for Functional Transformation.

Sam Fischer, P.T., D.P.T., Certified Pedorthist

Sam received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from URI in May 2012. He is also a Pedorthist, Certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics. He has advanced training in foot and ankle biomechanics and its affect on the kinetic chain relating to Physical Therapy and as well gait mechanics.  He has studied advanced biomechanics, orthotic fabrication and has worked alongside Bert Reid in developing the medical model for the orthotics program at OPT.  He has also worked with elite runners and athletes of all types providing proper shoe selection, modification when needed and orthotic fabrication.  He received his B.S. from URI in 2005.  His combination of functional Kinetic Chain biomechanics training and orthotic/running shoe experience makes him an invaluable asset to both the P.T. side of Olympic as well as the Olympic Foot Orthotic success to date.

Sam was an active volleyball player in tournaments throughout the Northeast. He was the captain of the URI Men’s Volleyball Team and was selected Second Team All-Tournament at the 2005 Men’s Volleyball Nationals. He has also coached and instructed skill clinics at both the high school and collegiate levels.  He currently enjoys mountain biking and road biking as well as general fitness.
